Pain on the Top of the Foot
The following are 3 common conditions to be thinking about if you have pain on the top of your foot:
Osteoarthritis
There may or may not be visible signs such as swelling and bony enlargement. The ankle and middle of the foot are the most afflicted by arthritis. People over the age of fifty are most prone to this condition. There are some leading-edge regenerative remedies for osteoarthritis that can help reduce the pain caused by this degenerative disease.
Stress Fracture
The long bones that lead up to the toes are most commonly affected by this condition. Pain and swelling over one or more of these bones is classic for a stress fracture. Oftentimes, a simple x-ray won’t show a fracture often until at least 3-5 weeks old.
Nerve Impingement
Pain on the top of the feet at rest is classic for a nerve condition. Unlike other parts of the body, feet are encumbered constantly by shoes and socks. Couple this fact with foot mechanics and certain activities of employment and the “perfect storm” of nerve pressure is created.
